A netname is the text description of a net and is applied to horizontal or vertical wires (or busses).
The netname is used to add detail to the schematic and for complex schematics allows the designer to see how a wire is used i.e. when a wire is routed from one side of a schematic to the other a netname can be used on each side showing what the net is used for.
There can be any number of netnames applied to a net but all the
netnames that are applied to the same net must be the same i.e. a
single net
must have a unique netname.
Its purpose in terms of netlisting is to name a net and the netname will appear in the netlist.
Note
Netnames are dragged with wires and busses and this action is controlled from the menu Control->Sticky nets (it is also on the second toolbar).
If only wires are used in a schematic then no net names
need
be used as the wire connections provide all required information.
The anchor point of a netname is at the bottom left of the text.
Definition of a net: A single net defines common connections made
between pins of library symbols.
