Menu: Tools --> Line, Rectangle, Oval, arc

These are a set of multi tools (only one at a time is shown on the toolbar).  When the current tool icon is clicked and held with the left mouse button then a drop down box with the other tools appears.  Selecting any of these with the left mouse button makes it the current tool.

To make the drop down box appear more quickly click right on the multi tool.

The tools are line, rectangle, oval and arc.

Line

To draw with this tool click the left mouse button to define the start point.  Move the mouse and click again to define another line.  When finished click the right mouse button to stop.

Summary :

  1. Click and release the left mouse button to define the start of a line.
  2. Move the mouse.
  3. Click and release the left mouse button to draw a line.
  4. Repeat.
  5. To finish click the right mouse button.

Rectangle and Oval

To draw with these tools left click and drag out a bounding box.  A temporary rubberband shape is displayed showing the location of the current shape.  Note that the action can be canceled if the escape button is pressed (while still holding the mouse button).  Release the mouse button to draw the shape.

Summary :

  1. Click left to define one corner of the object.
  2. Keeping the mouse button pressed drag out to define another corner of the object.
  3. To draw the shape release the mouse button.

For lines if the shift key is held then lines are kept to right angles.

Arc

Note that this tool is really only useful for drawing 90 degree arcs - those needed for schematics

To draw with this tool left click to define the center of the arc, then drag out a rubberband line to define the starting angle and one side of the arc.  Release the mouse button to lock this line.  Move the mouse to drag the arc and when satisfied left click to draw the arc.

  1. Click and release the left mouse button to define the center of the arc.
  2. Move the mouse pointer to define the first line of the arc.
  3. Click and release the left mouse button to lock the line.
  4. Move the mouse to drag the arc.
  5. Click and release the left mouse button to draw the arc.
